Heavy Water Collective have been working on a project with Jilly Gibson-Miller, Co-Director for MSc Psychology and Education, and PHD researcher Ankita Mishra at the University of Sheffield for Festival of the Mind 2024. We have been responding to their research, creating a new archive of experience with racially minoritised survivors of domestic abuse — and their informal and formal support providers — through creative practice.

Festival of the Mind: Workshops at Humraaz, Blackburn
Heavy Water have conducted a series of collage, photography, bookbinding and ceramics workshops at Humraaz. It has been such a privilege to work with this group of women and the welcome and our conversations have been so warm. The beautiful work they have produced will be exhibited during Festival of the Mind in September alongside considerable research conducted by Jilly and Ankita with Humraaz.
Festival of the Mind is the University of Sheffield’s biennial celebration of Sheffield University’s research, showcasing collaborative projects between academics from the university and Sheffield’s creative industries.
